As indicated in RCSD’s Current NYSED Approved APPR Agreement and the CIT Teacher Evaluation Guide, teachers shall have the option of requesting an INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR as part of the teacher observation and evaluation process. This is a reminder that the deadline for making this selection for the 2022-23 SY is FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.
If a teacher selects the ADMINSTRATOR + INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR OPTION, the teacher’s practice will be evaluated by the teacher’s Administrator Supervisor (80% of Observation component) AND an appropriately trained CIT Lead Teacher/Independent Evaluator (20% of Observation component) who will each conduct observations using the Danielson Rubric (domains 2 and 3 only). (Additional details can be found in Teacher Evaluation Guide Supplement A: Independent Evaluator Process). CIT Independent Evaluators, selected from trained Lead Teacher-Mentors, conduct classroom observations of teachers (in their field whenever possible) followed by rich learning-focused conferences. They provide verbal and written feedback, and then assign ratings for Domains 2 and 3 (Classroom Environment and Instruction) as part of the teacher evaluation process. The CIT Independent Evaluator will complete one of the Unannounced Observations for any teacher who select the ADMINISTRATOR + INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR OPTION.

This process is only necessary if you would like the ADMINISTRATOR + INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR option for the 2022-23 SY.
If you do not select the Independent Evaluator option, the Admin Only evaluation process outlined inRCSD’s Current NYSED Approved APPR Agreement and the CIT Teacher Evaluation Guide will be followed for the 2022-23 SY.
The Teacher Evaluation Selection Process to select your evaluation method for the 2022-23 school year is now available online only through 4:00 p.m. on October 14, 2022. An email confirmation of the selection will be forwarded to the teacher’s District email address. If you are unable to reset your password, or if you experience issues logging into the Teacher Evaluation Selection website, please contact the Help Desk. If you do not receive a confirmation email, or have any other questions with the Teacher Evaluation Selection process, please contact the APPR mailbox at APPR@rcsdk12.org .
