This year the RTA will award three (3) scholarships of $1000 each to seniors graduating from Rochester Public High Schools. Any student who will graduate in June and plans to continue his/her education (college, university, junior college, community college, business school, etc.) is eligible. Candidates must have an overall academic average of 80% or better. One scholarship is general, the other is the Scott Spino Future Teacher Scholarship, the third is the Gordon Dorway Science Award, offered to a senior in the Rochester City School District who plans to pursue a career in Science.

A fourth scholarship of $1000 will be offered to a high school senior who is the son or daughter of an RTA member in good standing. The son or daughter of a deceased RTA member may also qualify for this scholarship.

A fifth scholarship, the Ken Silvio Technology Scholarship, will be offered to a RCSD high school senior who is planning to pursue a career in Technology or Technology in Teaching.

The awards of $1000 will be given in two installments: first, $500 upon receipt of proof of registration; second, $500 upon receipt of first semester grade point average of no less than 3.0.

The final selection of winners will be made by the RTA Scholarship Committee. Selection will be based on criteria set by the Representative Assembly for each category. Counselors will soon receive multiple copies of the applications. Additional copies are available at the RTA office. All applications must be postmarked no later than April 19, 2024.
