Colleagues,

The attached resolution was adopted by the RTA Representative Assembly at a Special Meeting earlier this evening. The intent of our resolution is to keep a premium on protecting everyone’s health while also ensuring access to excellent education for all our students.

For the overwhelming majority of students and educators (approximately 98%), the remote-only approach to instruction will continue through at least the end of the first semester of the current school year. The District, however, determined to resume, on January 4, 2021, at-school and in-person instruction for our most vulnerable students in certain specialized programs (NYSAA, ASD and GEM) within Special Education. This is expected to affect approximately 2% of our students and their educators.

Many questions and details are not yet known but we are continuing to meet with the District to secure the information as soon as possible and to negotiate the impact on the terms and conditions of work for affected members. We will keep you informed about the progress of our efforts on your behalf and on behalf of all our students.
