To all members who may need DASA training for their certification:

NYSUT will be offering free DASA training for teachers and teaching assistants who need this training for their certification on Saturday, October 5th, at the Rochester Regional Office (30 N. Union St, 1st floor conference center, Rochester, NY 14607) from 9 am to 4 pm. Lunch (pizza) will be provided.

Completion of this course fulfills the NYS DASA training requirement for teachers, teaching assistants and paraprofessionals. Capacity for this session is 35 persons, so please register right away. Please share this email with teachers, Teaching Assistants and others who need this training for certification requirements! DASA training does not count for CTLE credit.

NYSUT is pleased to offer the course at NO COST to members in our region, but advance registration is required. Also, if you register and find you can no longer attend, please cancel immediately. If you do not cancel by September 30th, you will be charged $50 as this workshop is in high demand and usually has a wait list.

6-hour Dignity Act: Training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying and
Discrimination in Schools: Prevention & Intervention (DASA) Dignity Act:

The Dignity Act maintains that it is the policy of the State of New York to afford all students in public schools an environment free of discrimination and harassment (Education Law 10). This interactive and discussion-based program examines harassment, discrimination and bullying as it relates to, but is not limited to, those acts based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, gender or sex. Participants will engage in authentic conversations and reflections about harassment, discrimination and bullying as well as explore the impact of social constructs in their personal and professional lives. This training fulfills the state requirements for six clock hours of coursework or training in the Dignity Act in accordance with Article 2 Sections 10-18 of the Education Law.
