Good Afternoon RCSD Retiree!
This is an important message from the Rochester City School District Office of Human Capital Employee Benefits team. It is regarding your health insurance and our Dependent Audit.
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Joe Sergio and I am the new Sr. Director of Employee Benefits and Wellness. I started in this role this week. Previously I worked for almost 5 years as a Director of Staff Relations. I am very familiar with the Rochester City School District and I am excited to start this new role.
That being said, I understand there are some concerns and questions related to the Dependent Audit that is occurring. This audit is a normal business practice and is being managed by a national vendor, Verifi1, who supports these kinds of audits for organizations all over the country. The reason organizations conduct these audits is to verify that a dependent still qualifies for health coverage. When you enrolled in the health plan you were most likely asked to provide verification for any dependent’s that you added; but things change. This audit is our way to verify that participants in our health plan are still eligible for coverage.
Because there has been some confusion around this audit, we are going to extend the deadline for retirees to submit their verification documents through July 1st.
We would also like to stress that our vendor partner accepts a variety of verification documents. There have been concerns about submitting tax returns and while they are one acceptable document, there are several ways to verify a spousal relationship. You can select any of the acceptable documents that is most convenient and comfortable for you to share; just be sure that the document shows both your name and your spouse’s name. The same is true for verification of a child who is covered by our health plan.
Once the audit is completed, rest assured that your health coverage will not immediately change. We will be reaching out and attempting to confirm before any coverage is terminated. It is not our intent to remove anyone who should be covered.
If you have any questions, please call the Employee Benefits unit at 585-262-8206. We are here to help with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also reach out to your union representatives as they are aware of this process and may be able to offer advice or guidance to you.
