A Message from the Office of Human Capital

As you know, our area is expected to experience very hot weather on Monday and Tuesday. As has been shared, on Monday and Tuesday we will implement our early dismissal schedule for students in grades PreK through 8. All after-school activities are also canceled.

To support our students and families during this time, the City of Rochester will have the R-Centers open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. where programming and meals will be available.

Here are the key details for our staff forMonday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24, 2025

The above 2 days are workdays for all staff as modified below:

  • Just as we did last year, school facilities will make every effort to close as soon as possible upon the dismissal of students (Grades PreK—8, all NYSAA classrooms, OACES, Youth & Justice, Agency Youth, and Home Hospital at the early dismissal schedule; Grades 9-12 as students finish exams by supervisor direction). Staff are to work from home for the remainder of the workday. Evening shift staff will receive further direction from their supervisor.
  • Exam scoring will continue as planned and those assigned can consult their supervisor with any questions. All grades 9-12 staff who are not needed to assist with proctoring will be dismissed when not needed, by their supervisor—staff should wait for direction.
  • To ensure everyone’s safety, we kindly ask all staff to vacate the facilities as soon as practicable upon the dismissal of students.
  • Central office and non-school based facilities will be afforded work from home option to the extent practicable and through supervisor direction. External District staff or staff working to support non-district schools should follow the guidance of their schools and supervisors;  any questions can be directed to your supervisor or for Special Education toKristin.Swann@rcsdk12.org
  • Centralized supervisors will communicate expectations directly to staff, with ability to work from home in the afternoon.
  • Please find the link to our Early Dismissal Schedule.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Please reach out to your supervisor or the Office of Human Capital if you have any questions or concerns.

Stay cool,

Chris
