Colleagues,

Last night’s meeting of the RCSD Board of Education was frustrating, to say the least. The only thing decided yesterday was to postpone the first day of school for students from this Wednesday to this Thursday. Another Board meeting is scheduled for this evening at 6 pm. Hopefully, it’ll be an improvement on the last few. The Board has finally directed the Superintendent to present a full and comprehensive plan for reopening our schools for in-person instruction.

Just to clear up some confusion, teachers still report tomorrow and Wednesday. Both days will be Superintendent’s Conference Days but hopefully modified to allow you maximum planning and preparation time. The District will confirm this very soon through an email or a robocall. Speaking of robocalls, we’ve contacted the District and requested that non-emergency RCSD robocalls to teachers be made at an appropriate hour – not at 10:40 pm as was the case last night.

We will communicate with you further as more information becomes available to us. Meanwhile, enjoy the last day of your summer recess and Happy Labor Day.
