Colleagues,
When the District announced a week ago their plan for reopening schools, we immediately requested to negotiate the impact of that plan on the terms and conditions of work for our members. The District did agree to such Impact Bargaining and we’ve already held several sessions. More negotiations meetings are scheduled for tomorrow and early next week.
Our goals in these talks are to ensure the safest possible environment for teaching and learning as we resume in-person learning for all students; to secure the resources and services that our members and their students will need; to advocate for policies that reconcile individual rights with our collective responsibility; and to obtain clear answers to the many questions raised by teachers. While we continue to make progress in these discussions, not all issues have yet been resolved. We expect to conclude the Impact Bargaining sometime next week and will then be able to share the details with you.
