Colleagues,
I hope that you are having a good summer recess. This is a brief update on two current issues.
We have resumed negotiations, this time with the new Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser, to salvage our recent Tentative Agreement for a one-year modified extension of the current contract so that we could then have the needed time to bargain for a multi-year successor agreement. It is our hope and expectation that we can conclude the bargaining for restoring our Tentative Agreement soon.
Secondly, we are aware that some teachers have been adversely affected by problems with the District’s new Oracle operating system, resulting in difficulties with access, accuracy and responsiveness. This includes, among others, Professional Development Incentive (PDI) stipends, summer school payments, deferred payments for retirees and teachers who resigned, payments for clubs and activities, and extra pay for librarians and other affected teachers. We have already filed Class Action Grievances and have been working with the District to resolve the issues. Please contact, using your personal email, RTA’s Martha Keating <maskerade6@aol.com>, Aimee Rinere <arinere@rochesterteachers.com>, Margaret Sergent <mmsergent@rochesterteachers.com>, Matt Lavonas <mlavonas@rochesterteachers.com>, or Jason Valenti <jvalenti@rochesterteachers.com> to let us know if you are adversely affected. Be sure to include your employee number and an exact description of your payroll issue.
We will continue to attend to these and other pressing issues that confront our members and we will keep you informed about the progress of our efforts on your behalf. As always, call or email us if you have questions or need assistance.
Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer.
Adam Urbanski, RTA President
