  • June 2, 2022 – Special Education Tenure Area

The schedule for each day is as follows

  • 3:30 pm-Online sign-in
  • 4:15 pm- Start of transfer rounds by tenure area beginning with the voluntary round

Please note:

  • Start times are estimates.
  • If you have not been displaced and are not seeking to voluntarily transfer for the 2022-2023 school year, you do not need to attend Transfer Day (even if you previously applied in the online system).
  • You may designate a proxy to attend and choose an assignment on your behalf. Any choice made by proxy is irrevocable. RTA Proxy Form can be found here.

You should receive a zoom invite on your designated transfer day.  (See below if you need help.)

You can sign in beginning at 3:30.   At that time, vacancies in your tenure area will be posted.  Keeping track of those positions is advised.

The transfers will begin at 4:15. When you hear your name called you can choose a new school or PASS.

(You can pass all rounds.)  Round 1 is for teachers ranked at matching schools (meaning a vacancy is available).  Vacancies are created that cannot be claimed until Round 1b.

Round 1b is for teachers from schools being closed or through grievance settlements are eligible.  This round operates on district seniority (from most senior to least senior).

Round 2 if for teachers displaced from their school due to fewer positions available or through the receivership process.  It also uses district seniority to offer positions.

Round 3 is like Round 1, again for ranked teachers with vacancies not available until the next round.

Round 4 is for anyone remaining and once again uses district seniority.

IF AT ANY POINT YOU ARE CONFUSED OR THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG, STOP THE PROCESS!

Once you have made a choice, it is virtually impossible to reverse it.

Please be cognizant that choosing a new school/program is understandably a significant decision, however, taking too much time is frustrating to those waiting.

If you do not choose a new school, you can “shop” the hotline for 30 days (posts new vacancies and

awards based on seniority) and after the first Friday in August, the District can assign you.  The hotline

is available two ways: via phone to: 546-2768 or the RTA website.  Directions for how to claim a position

are included both in the phone message and the website.

During transfer day you can ask questions/raise concerns by contacting:  RTA 2nd VP Margaret Sergent (585-820-9392), RTA Treasurer Aimer Rinere (766-9299) or Matt Lavonas (585-764-6181).  Martha Keating is watching over the entire process, receiving information from the District, and raising questions.  Thus, she is unavailable for questions unless relayed by the aforementioned RTA officers.
