Colleagues,

As I’ve indicated in Wednesday’s Update, with the help of our state-level union, the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), approximately 1100 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines are being made available solely to members of the Rochester Teachers Association (RTA) and the Rochester Association of Paraprofessionals (RAP). Because of logistical constraints on the vaccine itself and on the Monroe County Department of Health, these vaccines must be administered next week on Tuesday (9am – 7pm) and on Wednesday (9am -8pm). We have reached out to the District and they have agreed that, for this instance only, “staff who take advantage of this opportunity will not be required to use sick time, as long as they return to work following the appointment. The District also suggested that Secondary staff should register for appointments on Tuesday and Elementary staff should register on Wednesday.

To register for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, please go to <https://www.monroecounty.gov/healthcalls/vac/index/fleetd2pfiedujrgb>. This link is live now and will remain live until all appointments are taken. Please do not share the link with anyone since it is limited to only for members of the RTA and RAP. The vaccines will be administered at the Fleet Center (145 Paul Road).

The District has just informed us that an additional 500 Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be made available at East HS next Wednesday and 300 more vaccines may be made available the following Saturday. The link for those vaccines will be provided by the District and any RCSD staff member, in any bargaining unit, would be eligible to register.

I am pleased that we are able to facilitate these opportunities to our members who may be interested but have not yet been vaccinated.

Adam Urbanski, RTA President
