Dear Colleagues,

Please find attached the salary schedules that reflect the recent salary adjustment for the 2019-2020 school year as well as the projected salary schedule for the next school year (2020-2021). Please note the following:

The salary adjustments for the 2019-2020 school year reflect the difference between the salary with the Triborough increase only (that teachers already received as of July 1, 2019) and the recently agreed-upon benchmarking increase (3.31%). Increases vary depending on each step of the salary schedule. To identify yours, first locate your salary for the 2019-2020 school year (it is also on your payroll statement, next to “bi-weekly”). Then find the same salary level in the Triborough 2019-2020 schedule.

Move horizontally to the right to find the final agreed-upon salary for the 2019-2020 school year that also includes the salary benchmarking adjustment for that year.- Move down diagonally from that step to the next step to identify your beginning salary for next school year (2020-202021) that includes only the Triborough increase. This amount is subject to increase upon the successful conclusion of the current negotiations for a successor contract. We expect that a benchmarked salary increase will be part of that settlement, as well.

The salary adjustment for the 2019-2020 school year is retroactive to July 1, 2019. Teachers who worked only part of that year will also receive a salary adjustment, though prorated. The District indicated to us that their goal is to mail or direct deposit the retroactive payments, in a separate check, sometime this summer – though no specific date has yet been set. Our position is, of course, that the sooner they can accomplish this, the better.

Please feel free to contact RTA’s Chief Negotiator John Pavone <pavrta@aol.com> or RTA’s Negotiations Committee Chairperson Martha Keating <maskerade6@aol.com>, both cc’d here, with any questions related to the above information We thank them, and our entire team, for their persistence and hard work. Most importantly, we are grateful to you for your patience and for your unswerving support.

I hope that your summer recess is off to a good start. We’ll continue to keep you informed about the progress of our efforts on your behalf.
Stay safe.
